This work is one of two watercolours and one pen and ink drawing that share
substantially the same imagery. They show Colquhoun experimenting with the
configuration and colouring of the conjoined pairs of eyes that appear in other
works of the period, in particular Christian Marriage II (c.1942) and Christian
marriage figure (1942).
